Community Routes is an exciting new FREE programme packed with workshops, mentorship and a residency dedicated to equip the next generation of young creative professionals in the West Midlands with the skills and support that they need to thrive in the Creative Industries, across five key areas - Creative Production, Music Technology, Film, Vocal Performance and Digital Arts.

what to expect

Residency
Develop your skills in an intensive weeklong, bootcamp-style Residency with experienced mentors

Workshops & Mentorship
Participate in workshops and get paired with specialist mentors to master skills in areas such as leadership, producing, management, performance and budgeting

Showcase & Networking
Showcase your work and network with the public, potential employers and the wider Creative Industries in an event to celebrate you and your skills

Following the success of our ongoing programme Gallery37, Community Routes, will offer 50 spaces for young creative professionals in the West Midlands, 18 - 25* with the opportunity to develop their creative & professional skills, beginning with a Residency in August, swiftly followed by masterclasses, assigned industry mentors and a chance to showcase work & network with the wider Creative Industries.

Creative camps

  • Creative Production

    Get hands-on experience in planning, organizing, and executing events. participants will learn essential skills in project management, technical setup, and creative direction.

    Residency Camp Leader: George Hadley

  • Music Technology

    Create and refine your own compositions. Participants will gain skills in recording, mixing, sound engineering, and live performance.

    Residency Camp Leader: Reece Hayden

  • Film

    Bring cinematic visions to life from pre-production to post-production. Participants will develop skills in essential areas such as directing, editing, and casting

    Residency Camp Leader: LG Vision

  • Digital Arts

    Create new digital work whether it’s graphic design, illustration, animation or otherwise. Developing your skills in design principles, digital techniques, and creative thinking.

    Residency Camp Leader: Seema Mattu

  • Vocal Performance

    Elevate your vocal performance skills with rapping, singing and spoken word. Participants will develop their skills in stage presence, collaboration and recording.

Important Dates

  • Induction at Centrala: Thursday 29th & Friday 30th August 2024

  • Residency at Centrala: Monday 2nd - Friday 6th September 2024

Requirements

• Must be available for the dates outlined above
• *Be aged between 18 - 25 (Applicants between the ages of 18 and 25 will be prioritised. However, we welcome exceptional applications from individuals outside this range, specifically those between 16 and 30)
• Must want to work in the Creative Industries
• Must be based in Birmingham or in the surrounding areas of the West Midlands
