Gallery37 2024 Commissions
We are now coming to the commissioning phase of Gallery37, which will allow you all to present your ideas and have the chance to bring them to fruition with the help of the Punch team.
During this year's commissioning phase, 5 grants of up to £5,000 will be available for artists to bid for. Should your application be successful, you will receive funds to execute your project, support from a dedicated Punch producer, and office space at Punch as and when you need it.
Gallery37 is about making sure we’ve equipped you with the skills and knowledge to begin a career in the creative industries. To be eligible for these funds you will need to have attended G37 masterclasses where possible. These masterclasses have been curated to help you fill in any gaps in knowledge between the residency and taking on paid work. We highly recommend you attend so you know what we expect in terms of managing budgets, creating networks, and producing high-quality work.
Funding of up to £5,000 per commission
We will be commissioning 5 x £5000. You will be able to apply as individuals or as groups.
This could be used for a live music event, an exhibition, creation of assets - for example a book of photography, a film… Anything. As long as it makes sense as part of your career progression.
You will be responsible for how funds are spent. For this reason, we need to be sure that you are equipped with the knowledge to manage a budget and manage a project.
Juneau Development Fund
If you don't feel you're quite ready to take on your own commission but would like funding to further develop your craft, perhaps you need more time to research or find your feet as an artist, you will be able to apply for the Juneau Development fund.
Juneau and Punch have put aside a further £5,000 to make this happen. You will be able to apply for anything between £500 - £5000 for development. Applying for this fund will also mean you get to work under the mentorship of Juneau Projects who are renowned visual artists and experts when it comes to commissioned artwork.
Ready to apply?
You can apply via the form below, or by answering the questions in a video
Applications closed at Midnight on Monday 29th April. Successful applicants will be notified on Friday 24th May.
Please bear in mind that around 60 people will be applying for commissions which means this is a competitive process. We want you to think carefully about what makes your project different, how it will really help you to progress and what it will enable you to do afterwards.
Need some support?
Punch will hold two drop-in sessions at Punch HQ (Zellig, B9 4AT) for anyone needing help with their application. We recommend that you come along to these sessions.
